,KUALA LUMPUR: Poultry firm Lay Hong Bhd said it has yet to be able to ascertain the losses arising from the temporary closure of an egg farm in Jeram, Selangor until the investigation by the Department of Veterinary Services is completed. One of Lay Hong's egg farm in Jeram has stopped production after the Singapore Food Agency detected that its products were contaminated by Salmonella bacteria. Lay Hong told Bursa Malaysia today only one farm was affected, while the other five farms in the Jeram area have been tested negative. "The Jeram 1 farm is currently suspended from both the domestic and export market pending the completion of the investigation by Department of Veterinary Services (DVS)." it said. "All other farms in Jeram (Jeram 2-6) have tested negative for Salmonella Enteritidis and these farms are divided into smaller satellite farms which are physically separate from one another despite being located in Jeram," it added. The Group said it will only resume the supply of eggs from Jeram 1 farm once the investigation is completed. "The Board is unable to quantify the amount of revenue lost until the investigation is completed," it said. Shares in Lay Hong slipped 0.5 sen to close at 35 sen today.
